Over the summer of 1995, I brought my desktop computer home from the University of Chicago. I decided to start computerizing my puzzles using primitive drawing tools (compared to the ones I use now), and to test these tools out, I decided to try something simple. The stamp puzzles seemed like a great choice, only containing squares and lines.
But first, I decided to "bookend" the four stamp puzzles that I had already made with two more puzzles. I wanted to create one that would be very easy, using only Stamp 1, and a sixth that would be very difficult, and using all three stamps.
These two puzzles remained on file until they were printed for the first time to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the magazine.
